The speaker for the August meeting was Dr. David Limbaugh who discussed current projects.
The spotlight was on the Sedalia Area Habitat for Humanity which is not welfare, charity or a give-away program. Habitat builds houses around the world according to the same principles:
Simple–Houses are modestly sized: large enough for the family’s needs but small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs to a minimum.
Decent–Habitat uses quality, locally available materials. Home designs reflect the local climate and culture.
Affordable–The labor of volunteers and partner families, efficient building methods, modest house sizes, and no-profit loans make it affordable for low income families to purchase Habitat houses.
