The June meeting was under the direction of the Finance Committee. President Michelle Franklin called the meeting to order. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Club Collect, Debbie Ulmer led the invocation
The guest speaker was Carrie Scott, Assistant Financial Officer at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She has 20 years of healthcare financial experience.
Carrie spoke about the importance of rural hospitals and how they are the cornerstones of their communities. Rural hospitals boost mortality rate by 6%. She detailed the financial challenges of rural hospitals with an increase in medical supplies coupled with the decrease in reimbursements for care provided the rural community.
Bothwell’s clinics provide more than 30 specialties. Fifty patients are seen in one of BRHC’s clinics for every hospital admission.
Following her presentation, Carrie answered questions.
The finance chair, Carolyn Green presented Carrie with an honorarium which Carrie had designated for the Bothwell Foundation.

Janice Cones presented President Michelle Franklin with a proclamation from Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe. The governor congratulated Michelle on being installed as the 2026-2027 president of Sedalia Business Women.
